Welcome to the Management Society
  • The lower Waitaki river is a world-class braided river with valued native and introduced wildlife.
  • This environment is changing with reductions in water-flow and the decline of wildlife.
  • Concern among lower Waitaki communities has led to the formation of this Society.
  • The LWRMS has been in existence since 2005.
  • The Society is a forum for diverse views on river use.
  • A Management Strategy has been formulated by the Society.
  • Mission Statement: "To protect and enhance, in a sustainable way, the Lower Waitaki River System".
